在这个网站上沉默了很久，每天看着大家发泄对印度人和ICC的愤恨，看着一些人因为自己的利益受到了冲击而以偏概全的看待问题的本质，我完全理解大部分人的心情，作为一个在IT consulting打拼了近10年的人，我今天很想来给大家讲讲业内的真实情况。
首先介绍一下自己的经历，我国内CS本科毕业后在某国内大型软件公司工作了三年，然后跳槽进入美国最大的一个consulting公司工作至今，做过国内的项目，日本，东南亚的项目，两年前被公司派到美国工作，现在为一个美国的客户作项目。我走过了东方和西方，亲眼见证了印度IT咨询行业蓬勃兴起的几年，开始我和大家一样，瞧不起印度人，讨厌印度人，但是后来我发现我的工作中印度人开始无处不在，我开始反思和深入了解我所在的行业和发展的趋势。

Comments on NYT article: Chinese Students in U.S. Fight View of Their Home
The well-respected NYT has published an article on how Chinese Students in U.S. Fight View of Their Home.
On a good account, the media starts taking notice of sentiments of Chinese people and their supporters. This is a progress compared with the gross imbalanced approach the media has taken a couple of weeks back when pro-Tibet supporters disrupted Olympic torch relay and stood off with pro-China groups. But the story starts off with an incident that a student threw a bottle in a Tibet monk's speech at the University of South California. Once again, the report has taken an imbalanced view to portrait Chinese students as zealots, even gone so far as speculating that these students protest because they intend to return home. US writers tend to base their point with a real story. Unfortunately, this is not the case.
It is true that Chinese students were angry. They also used questionable tactics to drown out different voice in some cases. But there are different opinions. There are Chinese people who stand by the Duke girl and voice their concerns. There are also articles written by Chinese against boycotting Carrefour. The NYT has not reported any of theses. Before portraiting Chinese students as zealots, Mr. Michael Anti (the author of the article) really should have done his homework and interview a good sample of subjects.
It is true, as mentioned by the Times, that Chinese students have little experience in conducting a protest. But the article is missing the whole point here: their feelings are true and spontaneous. Between a no-so-noble but authentic expression of genuine feelings and an artful deception and manipulation, I'd rather believe the former (listening to their true concerns while channeling them into good behaviors). Obviously, the article focuses mostly on students' questionable behaviors, without looking into the true cause of such behaviors. This is ironic because when Tibet protesters (illegally) burnt Chinese-owned shops and attacked their owners in Tibet, few have criticized Tibet protesters, citing that there must be some good causes. This is double-standard.
Am I disappointed at western media's hypocrisy? Initially yes, but I quickly learn that American people have learned this a long time ago. I should grow up getting used to it quickly. As I learn more about western media, as many other non-natives will do, it is fair to warn the media that they shall not underestimate the waken underprivileged -- they will soon learn the tactics be more adept at what they pursue.

春假和其他
想想以往的春假总是兴奋剂，现在呢，春假至多是镇咳糖浆，可以舒缓一时罢了。
虽然地上已经拱出了令人欣喜的嫩芽，但天气还冷。一个月前的一次流感还让我时不时地要咳嗽一下才能缓解喉咙中的瘙痒。
今天碰到了一个中年学生说要念PHD，恐惧地问我一边工作一边念行不行。我想了想就恐吓了他一下，说头两年要拼命读东西搞清楚什么是研究，后两年就要想破脑袋做你的博士论文，中间不能被distracted；有些人都defend proposal之后找了工作，结果就再也完不成这个学位。他说我给我的四个小孩说要读PHD就是要趁年轻的时候读，不要等到我这么大年纪了。哈，我窃想，我本来觉得读个博士学位没什么，原来是这么难求啊。真是围城，有的人老婆孩子房子事业年纪都有了就是缺学位--又拿不下来；也有的人是拿下了学位却愁老婆孩子房子事业。好玩。有些事情就该年轻时候不知不觉的把它做了，后来就越来越觉得是福。

New year wishlist
Many things have happened to me during the year of 2007, both in work and in life, especially in life. I've increasingly enjoyed my interaction with people around me, including friends, superiors, acquaintances, and loved ones. I feel that i am blessed and surrounded by good people.
Wish list for the year of 2008.
1. Find a new healthy tempo.
2. Set up a home network.
3. Work at home more often. So that i can cook for myself a little.
4. How can i become literate in sports/political news and events?
5. Keep up with friends more often.

生日与礼物
近来连着几年我的生日都是在开会中度过的，说起来我也不觉得委屈。因为日子要一天一天的过，不一定非得要在某一天庆祝。而且因地制宜，我觉得不过是最合理的。今年开会稍微早些，所以我过生日之前就开完会了。过生日那天居然有意外的收获，收到了一张卡片，一个闪光灯，和一条围巾。看来我近来确实攒了一些RP，呵呵！说笑归说笑，在这儿一并表示感谢了。
我通常的做法是，可以借生日的机会把大家聚一下，过生日为虚，大家在一起分享一些闲暇时光为实，也不失做了一件好事。否则我对生日并不比其他日子期待更多。
我还有一个难忘的生日是高二的生日。高一我是转学生，秋假后才转到我后来的母校，被安插在一个班上。我之前耽误了课程，而且手指受了伤，刚开始有点困难。但因祸得福，当时的校长有意把我放到他最得意的班主任那里和最好的班上。这个班的特点是思想活跃，人才济济，百家争鸣。学习方面通常我们能囊括全校6个班前十名中的5～6名，文艺上也是极其否有创造性（至少在我当时看来）。我沉浸在其中有诸多乐趣，也有了不少好朋友。但后来分班了，分班后的一段时间大家都保持联系，大家知道我和另外一个同年同月同日的朋友过生日，而且知道我刚刚遗失了一本心爱的新英汉词典，就在生日那天凑钱给我们一人买了一本。我印象深刻，当时我正在晚自习，他们未事先通知把握叫出去了，送给我一本辞典，着实让我感动了一把。
同样是礼物，收到的心情是多种多样的。爸爸妈妈实际上是很怵收到礼物的，因为按照农村的习惯，来而不往非礼也。所以被迫也要在某个恰当的时候还礼，如果做不到或者忘了还要被挑理。但有的礼物的就不一样的，不仅收到的一方很elevated，送的人也很愉悦。
