Hey There Delilah

this song just stroke me in the air wave. Delilah is perhaps not a girlfriend of the singer but an inspiration for this long-distance love story.

Plain White T's

"Hey There Delilah"

Hey there Delilah
What's it like in New York City?
I'm a thousand miles away
But girl tonight you look so pretty
Yes you do
Times Square can't shine as bright as you
I swear it's true

Hey there Delilah
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right there if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice it's my disguise
I'm by your side

Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me

Hey there Delilah
I know times are getting hard
But just believe me girl
Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar
We'll have it good
We'll have the life we knew we would
My word is good

Hey there Delilah
I've got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it all

Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me

A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got planes and trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
and we'll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Delilah I can promise you
That by the time we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you're to blame

Hey there Delilah
You be good and don't you miss me
Two more years and you'll be done with school
And I'll be making history like I do
You know it's all because of you
We can do whatever we want to
Hey there Delilah here's to you
This ones for you

Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me.

NanoTube

a science photographer in Harvard, Felice Frankel, showed us this illustration of carbon nanutube. I was very fascinated by its delicate color and structure.

there are more pictures from her in this audio commentary.

Kurt

zt: Advice for College Graduates, from NY Times

The NY Times has an article giving advice to college graduates. Many of these apply to me now.

¶Never pay a real estate agent a 6 percent commission. -- en... when i sell i will consider this suggestion.

¶Buy used things, except maybe used tires. -- try to follow this in the future.

¶Get on the do-not-call list and other do-not-solicit lists so you can’t be tempted. -- i don't have fixed-line home phone.

¶Watch infomercials for their entertainment value only. -- n.a. to me.

¶Know what your credit reports say, but don’t pay for that knowledge: go to www.annualcreditreport.com to get them. -- used once.

¶Consolidate your cable, phone and Internet service to get the best deal. -- so far i only have basic cable and "free" internet from my benevolent neighbor.

¶Resist the lunacy of buying premium products like $2,000-a-pound chocolates. -- does that mean i should shop from walmart more often?

¶Lose weight. Carrying extra pounds costs tens of thousands of dollars over a lifetime. -- eh, not a problem for me.

¶Do not use your home as a piggy bank if home prices are flat or going down or if interest rates are rising. -- let's hope the price won't go down.

¶Enroll in a 401(k) at work immediately. -- yes i did.

¶Postpone buying high-tech products like PCs, digital cameras and high-definition TVs for as long as possible. And then buy after the selling season or buy older technology just as a new technology comes along. -- a few times i failed to stay put. but hey, i don't have an ipod till now.

¶And, I’m sorry, I’m really serious about this last one: make your own coffee. -- don't drink coeffee, or soft drink.
